Review on Development 0 96Inch Display Arduino Compatible by Aaron Kindler

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good board, great price, very easy to use.

Pros: This is a very well made board at a great price. I like the inclusion of pegboard pins and pin labels that others don't have. It took me five minutes to add OLED support (via the U8g2 library) to an existing sketch, and now I get instant feedback on my project from the top of the SoC. OLED is very easy to read and . brilliant! Cons: No socket for external Wi-Fi or Bluetooth antenna. Adding them is almost as easy as putting them on a headboard, so it's not very practical. The WiFi antenna is mounted under a multi-layer circuit board and this seems to protect the antenna somewhat. I measured -55dBm on this board while sitting next to a standalone ESP32 module reading -50dBm from the same AP. This is measured by the chipset, which can vary more than the measured difference, but that's what I've seen on my breadboard. This shouldn't be a problem for most projects. It also has a very basic battery management scheme that batteries will not like. The battery will charge, but not at the correct fixed current, resulting in reduced battery life. However, it's the standard on all development boards that include battery support and on almost all dedicated battery management boards, so there aren't too many downsides. This is now my favorite SoC for development. It has all the features I usually use. Four stars versus five because this board wasn't working when I asked about it.
