Review on New Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Standard Zoom Lens for Canon DSLR Cameras (White Box) by Athit Athit ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not a bad purchase, worth the money.

when buying, I compared it with Canon 17-85 for a long time, the latter seemed less sharp and more flimsy in design. I won’t say that I was delighted with the purchase, but this is the best that was on that day for that kind of money. used by me only for shooting landscapes, for portrait shooting (for me) is not suitable at all. for a year of use, dust has not accumulated and the trunk does not leave, as many users complain. coupled with the advantages I have described and turning a blind eye to the shortcomings, I still rated it as a good model. because only the L series is probably better, but this is already completely different money. my recommendation: as the first lens for the first DSLR in order to understand what it is to "photograph" in general, it will fit 100%

Pros
  • good spread of focal lengths, which gives a lot of opportunities when shooting; silently and quickly focuses; reliable design; quite sharp for the money, however, with a focal length of more than 24 mm; does not miss; did not notice any accumulation of dust
Cons
  • very, very dark, impossible to use in the dark and almost impossible to use in poor lighting; an extremely noticeable barrel at a wide angle (well, these are already optical distortions, which will still have to be corrected at any wide angle); a little chromate; 18-24 mm lathers, which makes it impossible to shoot at a wide angle, when sharpness is important; you can make the price a little lower, the consumer will be very happy

Everyone is happy. The disadvantages are compensated by the price.
