and the puree whipped up, and the whole thing wasn't very noisy. My old blender sounded like a 747.

Don't be fooled by the slow speed. The thing does its job. I've whipped cream, eggs, butter to make chocolate chip cookies, and whipped mashed potatoes, all without much noise. My old mixer sounded like a Boeing 747 taking off. Low speeds are actually slow, but high speeds are more than enough. In fact, I accidentally mashed my mashed potatoes into a gooey mess because the noise was so low and the speed was much slower than what I'm used to. Because this blender is so well constructed, it does so much more for so much less. Whisks are easy to clean and the center bar doesn't go through the middle. They look thin but strong and don't bend. I believe their hollow design is the main reason this whisk works so well. Science is great stuff.
