First off, I love All Clad products and have a large collection of cookware. The two reasons I buy All-Clad are the quality/purity of the metal and that it is made in the United States. Unfortunately this kettle is not made in the United States and after three months of use I found the quality of the metal to be very poor. After three months of daily use, I noticed rust spots on the inside of the bottom of the kettle. This is of great concern as it is a sign of unclean stainless steel. Chinese manufacturers are notoriously using inferior metal to save money and jeopardize consumer safety. Low quality stainless steel can contain very harmful chemicals that get into food or water and slowly poison the person using it. I'm willing to pay more for safer cookware and that's why I bought All-Clad products, but this kettle doesn't live up to the standards I expect from a company. I recommend that All-Clad only manufacture in the United States where labor laws and quality are regulated. When I noticed rust spots on the kettle I contacted All-Clad and they offered a lifetime warranty and sent me a new kettle. I'm grateful for the new kettle but I'm still hesitant to use it as the quality of the metal is questionable. I use the kettle every day for coffee and tea. I don't want to worry about harmful chemicals in my boiled water.
