It IS important to decide before assembly which way up you want it, as the end caps, one set of which (top) are solid, the other threaded, (bottom, for the adjusting screw leg caps), once in place are not easy to get back out. Also, if you don't already own a rubber mallet, for household chores, it may be advisable to buy one, as it makes cap insertion very easy -- and you'll find such a mallet will come in handy for other tasks.Good product.
