Review on 🐠 DaToo Aquarium External Heater: Optimal Performance with 300W Power for Canister Filter by Everett Underberg

Stay away! Leaky and dangerous!

The thing is scrap. I hooked it up to my new canister filter and immediately noticed leaks even as I pulled the hoses way down into the nipple and tightened the lock nuts until my fingers hurt. When I moved my canister filter today, the hose blew off the nipple and spilled several gallons of water before I could reattach it. If that's not enough to make you think you should stay away from this product, read on. In trying to fix the problem, I found that the zip ties on the nipples did very little to hold the hoses in place. When reattaching the heater to the nipple, BOTH sides were cross-threaded (I worked with the connectors long enough to make sure I didn't cross them - those nipples are junk) and were almost impossible to remove. When unscrewing the nipples, the entire heating unit came loose from the body – the valves, the heating unit and the hoses literally twisted in the body. Needless to say, a day after purchasing this heater it became unsafe to use as the heater assembly was literally ripped out of its housing. Also, the instructions that came with the heater were incredibly vague and full of grammatical errors when installing it. This could have been a great heater if only DaToo had designed separate products for each hose size instead of including three nipples for different hose sizes (it includes hose adapters for multiple sizes). In its current form, the presence of fittings screwed into the heater body and nuts intended to attach the hose to the nipple makes it prone to breakage. You literally turn the nut to tighten the hose in the same direction as the nipple from the heater assembly! This thing needs leaks! I hope my review helps other buyers look elsewhere for a built-in aquarium heater - if the details are too cryptic, let me leave that to you: don't buy a DaToo built-in aquarium heater; a cheap generic product will not work for you. If for any reason you decide to purchase one, I hope you don't end up pouring gallons of water out of your aquarium like I did.
