This could potentially cook your fish.

Right out of the box I got a blinking E-1 message. I read another review that mentions this and instructions on how to tell if the temp is too high. I gave the system a test run (thank goodness) and let it sit for an hour or two, thinking it would cool down. I returned to the water pushing 100f. The heating never went off. It kept rising. Steam literally rose above the water's surface. Be careful with that. To return.

If this is literally your last option

Not sure why Revain mentions suction as there is no pump or suction cups on this unit. This thing was leaking from both ends and the case wasn't bolted all the way down. I wanted a Hydor but supplies were limited due to the pandemic and I thought it was a better alternative. That sucks, don't waste your money. I basically had to disassemble it and wrap all the connections with teflon tape. Right now I'm looking for an overnight leak, but just spend a little more and get something decent that…

Extremely poor heater

The only reason I gave this heater a second star is because it seems to read the temperature accurately and does not fry my fish. I use this heater in a pathetic 14 gallon aquarium. It's 68 degrees in my room right now and this heater is struggling to get the tank up to 72 degrees. Also, every time the temp drops more than a degree below the target temp I set, the heater makes an annoying, constant wee until I turn it off or lower the target temp. I also had trouble making connections tight. I…

Solid Heater - Fish & Aquatic Pets

I was looking for a built in heater but the choices were limited due to the 19/25mm hose on my pump. This was the only one I found that came with an adapter for this size. This thing keeps the tank temp where I want it to be, but it reads about 2 degrees lower than it actually is, so you'll need to adjust the temp down. a few degrees to reach the ideal temperature. There seems to be a 1-2 degree fluctuation when turning on and off, but my fish aren't picky enough to bother with that. The…

ATTENTION! WILL BOIL YOUR TANK

Installs per instructions. After fixing the leaks from the bad o-rings on the nipple ports, I turned on the filter to bleed the air out of the heater. As soon as the water stopped bubbling, I turned on the heater. I set the heating to 75°. Three hours later the water temperature was 86°. Assuming that the temperature would fluctuate so much because it was a cheap heater, I lowered the temperature to 68°. I went to work and returned 12 hours later to a 93° tank with hundreds of dollars worth of…

Compatible with solar filters.

Compatible with sunscreen filter hoses - no fittings to change although it is available in three sizes. No leaks and no need for metal clamps. I was concerned with all the feedback about incompatibility or leaking external heaters. I ended up trying this one and so far so good. Super easy to install and no problems. I've been waiting for a leak so I haven't plugged it in yet to test the heat. I know that's the whole point of a built-in heater, but my first concerns were compatibility and leaks.

  • Best in the niche

Stay away! Leaky and dangerous!

The thing is scrap. I hooked it up to my new canister filter and immediately noticed leaks even as I pulled the hoses way down into the nipple and tightened the lock nuts until my fingers hurt. When I moved my canister filter today, the hose blew off the nipple and spilled several gallons of water before I could reattach it. If that's not enough to make you think you should stay away from this product, read on. In trying to fix the problem, I found that the zip ties on the nipples did very…
