I didn't have high expectations of this little device. I remember using it in my youth, it was like torture - it took a lot of effort to get electricity through the apple and that's why it had to be screwed on. This little device slices through apples like warm butter. It's very easy! And I use Pink Ladies, Honeycrisps and Fuji - all crispy, hard apples. All its parts are simple: peel, cut and remove the core. The only time I've had to strain is a couple of times I get so stuck in there (just putting on the pins) I can't get the head out. But all you have to do is pierce/peel it into pieces with a knife. It takes a few extra seconds, but it's not that hard. It slices apples to the perfect size for pies and dehydration. It absorbs very well - very close to the core (so less waste), very rarely leaving any core behind. He stays where he is. I have granite countertops so it may not be as easy on other surfaces, but I've never had to move or re-vacuum the base. And turning off the suction is just as easy when you're done. To clean it I lightly rub the main surfaces with a soapy cloth and then rinse everything under warm water to wash it off. Then just set it aside to dry, away from little hands who might accidentally grab it - it's obviously very sharp. My only complaint - and I'm not even deducting a star for that - is that the packaging it comes in is flimsy! Assembled (you have to screw on the part of the handle you hold to crank) it doesn't fit in the box so you either can't use it for storage or you have to remove that part of the handle. process every time. Not a big deal - it's pretty easy to screw on - but it's something they could improve on to make this an absolute 5-star device, no questions asked.
