Review on ๐Ÿ”’ Saris Bike Locking Cable and Hitch Tite Combo: Secure Your Hitch Bicycle Rack with Black Locking Accessory by Nathan Jones

Good product but practically useless for Saris Bones 3 Hitch Rack

Mmmm, what can I say about that. This is a saris product so well made, made in the USA and we all know the guarantee. The product felt sturdy, attached well and matched my 1.25" hitch and Saris Bones 3 Hitch rack perfectly. So why only 2 stars (and I sent the product back)? When assembling the rack I found that on the Bones 3 hitch mounted rack this locking pin blocks the straight bar that goes into the hitch, but you only need to loosen one more (non-locking) screw to unlock the Main vertical to remove part of the trunk (and even worse, the part where the bikes are attached). The locking pin might be a good idea for other types of racks, but it just doesn't lock the rack I have (Saris Bones 3). Instead I bought a short, very strong chain and a good padlock and locked the bottom of the trunk with a security chain loop on the hitch - works great (and costs less, although cost wasn't an issue here). Two stars for the locking pin because it's a Saris product (and I'm a lifelong Saris employee; I just love the company and the products) and it probably works on some racks but not mine. I'd be interested in saris feedback if any of your product developers read this.
