We bought this photoelectric smoke alarm to replace a Kidde ionization smoke alarm near the kitchen and so far so good. Installation was easy, connecting directly to the cables already in place. Only the wiring harness that holds the smoke detector had to be removed. We cooked the entire Thanksgiving dinner with no false alarms! Before this purchase, our old one turned itself off every time we opened the oven. All of our smoke alarms are wired together so our cats will run and hide whenever they see us open the stove. So glad we got this one.
