Easy replacement of the old one

Bought built 15 years ago. I noticed that the original Kidde smoke detectors were still installed. It was very easy to connect the new detector without running any cables and I didn't have to change the socket. I just plugged in a new smoke alarm and screwed it back in. I now have the certainty that I will be fine for another 10 years.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • No automatic machine

Just the thing for smoke alarms and fire alarms

Perfect replacement for an old broken smoke alarm. We have this model throughout the house and they are all wired together. Luckily, the new one snapped easily onto the existing bracket and wiring harness. I was worried about having to change or remount the mount, but since it was just a newer version of the same model number, it was backwards compatible. Installation couldn't have been easier and I thought the price was reasonable.

Pros
  • Still happy
Cons
  • Little things

Great for the kitchen

We bought this photoelectric smoke alarm to replace a Kidde ionization smoke alarm near the kitchen and so far so good. Installation was easy, connecting directly to the cables already in place. Only the wiring harness that holds the smoke detector had to be removed. We cooked the entire Thanksgiving dinner with no false alarms! Before this purchase, our old one turned itself off every time we opened the oven. All of our smoke alarms are wired together so our cats will run and hide whenever…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Kidde has not revised this unit for many years which means that replacing the alarm/sensor assembly every five to six years when necessary is a lot easier as you can remove the ceiling of the Device does not need to replace bracket or wall. In addition, the 3-pin electrical connector is also unchanged, allowing the new alarm/sensor assembly to be plugged directly into the hardwire without rewiring. Replacing this unit is not much more difficult than replacing a light bulb! Thank you Kidda!

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Low maintenance

Easy to install in smoke detectors and fire alarms

I have replaced 3 Firex ionization smoke detectors (model g-6) with 3 kiddie photo detectors (fewer false alarms) (model p12040). Both units are 120v. The new unit also has a backup battery. The main difficulty was finding the circuit breaker to turn off. I had to install new plugs (included) on the alarm but it was just a matter of connecting the house wiring with 3 nuts (reused originals). To my pleasant surprise, the new mounting flange was slightly larger than the previous one, which closed

Pros
  • Heavy duty
Cons
  • Damaged
