Review on Fred CORKY Vacuum Wine Pump: Authentic and Effective by Crystal Phillips

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Out of service: kitchen and dining room

You are probably familiar with standard pumps that click when the air is completely removed. I thought it would be a clever twist on that concept, except instead of the boring gray pump we could have something that looks like a wine cork but works just as well. Unfortunately, the thing is far inferior to conventional plastic pumps. The first problem is that it's hard to tell when you've exhausted all the air. According to the instructions the cork no longer bulges, but in my experience the cork always bulges a little. It doesn't squeeze as hard as it did at first, but there's always some movement so we're always not sure if there's air left in the bottle. No clicking sound. It's badly designed. Perhaps more importantly, the seal does not hold. After all the air is removed, the bottle is placed in the refrigerator and opened the next day, there is no suction sound nor a distinct vacuum release sound. The thing just doesn't hold up. The only reason I'm giving it two stars instead of one is because it looks nice and is better than just leaving the bottle open or putting the cork back in. But if you want to keep your wine, don't get it.
