I finally found discussions on the Genesis owners forums to understand some of their installation tips. I'm not sure if there is a better/easier way, but I ended up cutting a small slot in the rubber grommet to install the mounting screws. In addition, it was quite easy to dismantle the trunk to gain access to remove a failed drive.
