The first thing I want to say about this product is that the lock body is plastic. However, I would not recommend this for bikers looking to secure expensive bikes. I have a basic bike that I only use for small errands so this lock works great for what I need. Since the case is made of plastic, it can break with enough force compared to other bike locks, so be careful. That being said, what I like about this part of the lock is that it has a small body that you can attach the lock to when not in use. I no longer have to attach the lock cable to the handrails or anything like that. I can mount this piece just under my seat so I can easily stow my padlock. From what I can tell so far, this is a universal option. It's fairly easy to install but requires tools to install. As for the quality of the cable, I would say that the chain itself is of good quality. It is made of thick and durable material, so it is very difficult to cut. The only problem is that the case is plastic even though the insert is metal. That being said, I wouldn't use this to protect an expensive bike. It can break if hit repeatedly with certain tools. It's the correct four foot length that allows me to secure most of my bike with at least both wheels secure so no one steals my wheels or bike. This may not work for most people as they want to secure the bike. The lock itself is relatively light and creates balance issues on the bike. Comes with two keys so you have a spare if needed. As with any spare key, I leave one at home and carry the other with me along with my car keys. The keyhole is actually hidden under a red handle that you pull out to use the key. This is good because it actually prevents water from entering the lock and prevents the metal inside from rusting. A cable lock, like many lock cables, tends to twist into a spiral, making it easier to secure back into storage, but not as easy to straighten. It should also be noted that the lock has an odor (from all the metal I think). I only aired it for a few days and hardly noticed after that. All in all this is a good lock for your regular bike. It's definitely not something I would recommend for your more expensive bikes. If you just use a basic bike for errands and other things, this is a good lock. The quality isn't the best, but it's not bad either. It has a decent place to put the padlock while riding so you don't have to worry about putting this chain in your backpack and you can easily stow it with your bike at any time. The lock closes well, doesn't let water through, and has a thick chain that makes it difficult to cut. The only downside I see is that the case is thick plastic and not metal, so I'm worried about how easy it is to break open with the right tools.
