Review on ECCPP Mazda Key Fob Replacement - Uncut Keyless Entry Remote for Mazda 2 5 6 CX-7 CX-9 RX-8 MX-5 Miata BGBX1T478SKE125-01 by Brion Pine

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Working remote controls, non-working transponder chips.

Bought for a used 2012 Mazda 2 that we just bought. The previous owner lost the key fob. The dealer wanted about $200++ for a full remote and key set. No, that won't happen. These guys came in a brown cardboard box with two tiny pieces of plastic in a separate ziplock bag with no instructions or tag. After googling an online forum we found out that these are transponder chips that should be built into the ignition keys. Also, there's no Mazda logo on the key fobs, which isn't a big deal, but it isn't. You can get them online for about $5 each. Both remotes work great. Programming was easy. Just search for your model, you will see several forums with remote programming instructions (which should be similar to most Mazdas with the same type of remote). However, since we only had one master key (2 master keys are needed), we had to pay someone to program the transponder chips. Our dealer (who said he would cut the keys for free) refused to cut the blanks and program the chips so we had to take them to a locksmith. I paid $10 to have both keys cut but they couldn't program the chips. They said the chips could be defective or not made for the car. We were supposed to get their chips for $25 each, excluding programming fees (I don't remember exactly, but less than $100 for both). All in all, after some time we got 2 working fobs and paid less than what we would pay for a fob at a Mazda dealership. You can't beat the price. So +3 stars for a great deal and working remote controls, -1.5 stars for faulty transponder chips and -0.5 stars for missing logos.

Cons
