Glides fairly easily. I have several leveling bases. All Kingjoy, Neewer and Gemtune models slip at about the same torque ratio as this one. According to my estimates about 15 kg. 22 pounds sounds excessive, but I'll check it on the scale. The Manfrotto 438 is surprisingly strong and holds up well. This device is not "worse" Manfrotto. it's just DIFFERENT. This device is *by far* the easiest to use of them all. That's why it gets 4 stars. This is the clear winner in the Ease of Use category. But if it were twice as strong, or if there was a "heavy" version, I can honestly tell you I would never use anything else. But unfortunately we only have one that works well with a standard hobbyist DSLR setup but slips when you place a TV camera on it. So he remains my second strongest unit for the time being.
