Review on Enhanced Motorcraft YH1624 Damper Door Switch for Improved Performance by Roberto Garrido

Works perfectly! The real FoMoCo. Made in Mexico! BUU!

I'm guessing you're here because your cable snapped due to a stuck vent door. It appears that Ford used a rubber seal around the door that dissolves into a goo, keeping the door closed. This part is easy to replace. You need to remove the center panel around the radio - leave the radio. Also remove the panel under the steering wheel - 4 screws. That's all. The dashboard part comes out by loosening a screw and disconnecting the wiring harness. Then rotate it. That's all. Then go to the other end and pull it out by pressing on the tabs. If your door is sticking, do not use the new cable to push it down or you will break the new cable. Remove the handle from the dash and place it on the spindle under the dash where you removed the old part - same spindle shape etc and twist to loosen. A little white lithium grease around the perimeter won't hurt. Then reinstall everything. To keep this from breaking again you have two options: 1. Remove the entire dash to get to the door and then somehow remove or lubricate the offending gasket. A lot of work. Option 2: Just don't go too far with your choices. This means no full top vents or full defrost. Customization is endless. So if you stop early and don't go all the way, you won't let this door close completely and you'll ever get stuck. Hope this helps someone. Now, Ford, could you please stop doing everything in Mexico? 1/4 of new Ford vehicles are made in Mexico. So not only have we lost our jobs, we are also forced to take in their citizens who have entered the country illegally. Talk about a win-win situation for Mexico. You screwed it up again America, but at least your motels are clean and the grass is mowed.
