Works Great - Dogs

We LOVE our SportDog Ironing Set! We ordered it about a year ago. It is EXCELLENTLY made! Our dogs were waiting for the "shock" of their lives. We showed them the border and a quick phone call was enough to get their attention. We have a Lab mix (85lbs) and a Weimaraner (95lbs) and both are fairly docile when it comes to borderlines. When we first taught them, we took them out and led them to the lines. We had raised flags and so on. One of them eventually crossed, and that was all it took. Mind you, next week we had to take her outside. They were so afraid of shock. It only took them a while to figure out that if they didn't hear the beep and feel the vibration, they wouldn't be shocked. In about a week or two they have been comfortable in our front yard. It took them about a month to figure out the backyard was safe. And, praise God, after about four months they decided to return to the field. (They pooped there, and when they got scared they started pooping in my yard). We have 3 acres of land but we live on a busy four lane highway. How nice that they can play unsupervised and mind their own business! You actually learned the entire limit yourself. I don't care where my husband and I go, they know exactly how far to go (the flags are long gone) and stop. They even got used to the vibration. You know it's time to back down. It doesn't scare them, but they know they have to fight back. Now the beep is a different story. You know that beep usually ends up in shock. You're petrified by ANY sound that sounds like it! We often hear this SOUND while watching TV and our poor Weimaraner (95 pounds mind you) will jump on the couch against the wall and start shaking. I think it's the same tone as her collar, but it scares the hell out of him. He thinks he's about to be shocked. So while you are reading this. you probably think. God. You shouldn't have set the settings that high. rzunimag. No, our BIG dogs are just little kids. We had collars for our dog in the 2nd setup. I think five. We had it at level 2 the whole time and didn't need to update it. My husband gets mad at me because sometimes I let her out without a collar. Does not matter. They don't come close to the border. Thank you SportDOG for making my life so much easier!
