Review on ๐Ÿšง Enforcer E-931-S35RRQ Seco-Larm Wall Mounted Photoelectric Beam Sensor - 35 Foot Range for Indoor/Outdoor Use by David Gibbs

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good quality, price and range.

This is a high quality reflex sensor with a very wide AC/DC supply voltage range that greatly simplifies installation. That's a good value too. The beam spread is approximately 15:1 which means the beam width (coverage) at 15 feet is approximately 1 foot in diameter. It's an infrared beam, so you can't see the beam, but you can see the yellow and red LEDs change state and hear the relay click softly as you align the sensor with the reflector. My only minor gripe (minus 1 star) is that the mounting hardware, while suitable for right angle (doorway) mounting (including tilt), does not allow for complex beam angles. For this I used a spare Pedco UltraMount Ball and Socket Head which can be found here on Revain. I attached one of the included mounts to the tripod head with a 1/4-20 nut and thread lock. This tripod head is easy to adjust to any angle and tilt imaginable, although it's a little tricky to tighten while still being aligned with the reflector. Reflector or bird flying through the beam - buy TWO sensors and mount them so their beams are about a foot or two apart (usually one beam above the other). Connect the relay contacts of the two sensors in series (for NO) or parallel (for NC) so that BOTH beams are blocked at the same time to signal a beam break. Thanks to the included small retroreflector, you can use multiple retroreflectors and/or larger ones to throw more light onto the sensor. I suspect that a 2x2 array of four 3" round bike reflectors will double the range of the sensor if the beam coverage (roughly a 26" circle at 35 feet) covers all the reflectors, not just one or two. For maximum range, try a 3x3 array of nine or more reflectors. You'll have to experiment to find out what works.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Long delivery time
