The tree ships in a very small box, so I knew immediately that the tree inside was severely compacted, which means the branches needed to be pulled out and shaped to look like a Christmas tree. It stands about 2 feet tall, as advertised, and looks pretty good on its weighted base, wrapped in burlap. If your tree, like mine, has burlap strings hanging off it, be careful not to pull on those strings, as it will easily unravel, and you will be left with noticeably less burlap on the base. Because of the weight of the base, the tree is very stable and not likely to tip over. The lights are powered by 3 AA batteries (not included) in a battery box, which hangs off the tree. There is a single button on the box which allows you to choose from 8 different types of light display. That means you must press that button repeatedly to cycle through all the display choices and to ultimately shut it off. My biggest complaint, other than the burlap, is that the battery box is big and heavy, especially with the 3 AA's inside, and is impossible to conceal in the branches of the tree. With proper care, it may last several Christmases, though I might prefer to use a bigger box for storage.
