It works great the way it is! But I have found that the clamps can move a bit when closed, causing the parts of the clamps to rub slightly (!) against the post when accessing the back of the tire. I want the oil to rotate smoothly and added a small washer (similar in size to that in the kit) and a 1 1/4 wing washer to fix this. Now it works great! I recommend the stand. Updated 04/22/21. I'm changing from 4 stars to 5 after using it for an entire embroidery project with a 9" hoop. Full disclosure, I ordered this stand after being so disappointed with another frame stand on day one of this embroidery project that I was ready to discontinue the project. Working with the other stand wasn't as solid, rocked too much for my liking, and in order to be able to access the back at the desired angle (which was very necessary because I made a few mistakes) I had to take out the hoop of the other. standing, then changing the lighting and magnifying glass settings, etc., it was royal torture, not my idea of the joy of sewing. Just not with that! This stand is incredibly strong! It's very easy and quick to access the back, I don't have to fiddle with lights and a magnifying glass. I have several high quality rolling frame coasters as well as the other hoop coasters mentioned previously. For me this is the missing link and a turning point for some projects. I love it and wish I had found and bought it sooner. Considering how much I've spent on other stands I don't find it overpriced and worth every penny.
