Review on 🍳 Lodge Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Grill Press - Cool-Grip Spiral Handle, 4.5" x 6.75", Black by Lauren Parker

Almost perfect but a bit hasty with the fasteners

It's nice to have a round press that curves with the rim of the pot. The handle stays nice and cool. It's quite heavy so I don't recommend it for something delicate like fish or even fried cheese (unless you're using heavy bread). The only thing I really don't like is that the fasteners aren't stainless steel and don't tend to rust. I don't mind zips at the top, but unfortunately the zips go through the pane and protrude (but are recessed) at the bottom where they come into contact with your food. As with all my castings, I try to keep a layer of oil on top, but that doesn't seem to help with fasteners. Too bad Lodge can't (not fully) drill and cut holes in the disc and screw 2 steel rods into the disc. This gives you a perfectly flat bottom (nothing sticks out through the bottom) and prevents rusting by using stainless steel fixings. The press appears to be covered in some sort of enamel paint rather than aged cast iron - it's smooth, easy to clean and seems to be holding up well.
