I use this for tie-dying with my students. We melt the wax on the burner plates set to minimum and the students apply the wax like paint. It melts at a lower temperature than the tie-dye wax you buy in the store and is easier to apply as it stays liquid at lower melt temperatures and is slightly safer for you. There is still a nice craquelé effect. The only problem I had was that after a few coats the soda in the paint started to eat away at the wax so we ended up with 4 values. Here are some photos of the wax applied to the fabric and the finished product. one of my senior students. That works great!
