This stretcher was exactly what I was looking for. I have two small cats that weigh about 7 pounds each and I wanted to carry them to the car in the same carrier that they would use in the car. Although this carrier is soft, I had no problem transporting both cats in a fully assembled double carrier and placing the carrier in the back seat of my 2-door coupe (Pontiac Sunfire). I had to move the passenger seat and maneuver the van a bit, so I didn't put her food and water bowls or tray in the van until I had put the van in the back seat. This transport box offers both cats enough space inside. I attached one of the hammocks and the cats loved it (the stretcher came with 2 extra hammocks). Once the carrier is in place, it leaves a few inches free along the back seat of my car for extra stuff. I attached the carrier to the back straps with string. I also tied all the zippers with zip ties because one of my cats is very smart and I was afraid he would come out otherwise. One of the zippers required thread (making it a double strap) because it's a single zipper, but it didn't cause any problems. I backed everything up before taking the cats to the car. I put a feeding bowl in the van just before departure, then after 90 minutes of driving I put a drinker with some water in it (waited until the cats had calmed down a bit). The recline of the rear seat does not allow the wearer to sit upright, causing too much water to spill onto the dishes. After three hours of driving, I put a small box of cat sand in the trunk. They didn't use it for the whole trip (six hours). They ate some of the food and drank some of the water. I think the best part was the fact that the cats slept most of the time, probably because they were so comfortable. I let them sleep in the stroller a few weeks before the trip so they could get used to it. They love the hammock. They really howled for the first hour (my cats hate the car) but then they calmed down and got comfortable and the ride was smooth and easy. I only stopped twice during the six hour drive. The construction of the transporter is of high quality, and I don't think even a clever cat will easily escape from it. The size is roomy and easily converts back to a single seat carrier for short trips. The single stretcher offers enough space for two cats, one in the hammock and the other sleeping next to it. I think this carrier is good for long trips as it has enough space for a small tray, food bowl, water bowl and two cats. Carrying it from the driver's seat in a speedster is a little tricky to manage; You have to turn and open, then somehow move things in and out without the kittens popping out, and all with the car doors closed. But I managed it with little difficulty, on the first try, without practice. This carrier has really made my life easier while trying to move with pets. I plan to use it again next time I move and I highly recommend trying this item.
