I had this 500 watt heater in a 320 gallon outdoor pond for 5 days and am very impressed. It was delivered at lightning speed at first and thankfully it was quickly approaching the 40° mark as the koi stopped eating and began the 'hibernation' process. I like the design of the whole device. It's easy to use, set up and works great so far. It's pretty cold here in New England at this time and I had to buy time while we were finishing the indoor pond to relocate the koi for the coming winter. Within a few hours the water temperature rose from 47° to 50°, then I increased the set temperature to 60°. A few days with no problems. I chose this one after being very skeptical about heaters because the heating element seems much safer than the "curling iron" type which just scares me. The heating element looks unbreakable and is well housed just in case. The red indicator light on our carp cam is great so when I check in I know what's going on and I can easily read the fantastic display on the control panel. In general, I like it so far! I will post more comments in a few months to confirm durability etc.
