You will understand.

At first I thought about sending it back, it took me a while to figure out what I was trying (4 wheel alignment on an 87 Vanagon Syncro) but once I got the hang of it and consulted my Bentley service manual on how to make the correct changes, it became very easy. This isn't rocket science. You can do it! I'm with others, the free hands option with fingers isn't necessary as you're making multiple adjustments and I don't think fingers handle placement repeatability that well. . It's much easier to gently hold the steering wheel without keeping your fingers in place, in fact the (satisfactory) instructions call for this method.
