After reading other reviews I was a bit hesitant but decided to give it a try. mine came with two mounts so the manufacturer should know this is a weak point. For my application the post works great as I mounted it on a dog basket on the handlebars. The bracket has a hole at each end and a small one in the middle. I used the small hole in the center, drilled something through and put a bolt, nut and washer in the hole I had drilled in the dog bed's aluminum frame. Since I didn't use the bottom of the bracket I cut it out with a dremel as that part of the bracket is the weakest point. I've had it adjusted like this for about a week and it's holding up well. As long as you're not doing crazy stunts and hitting a lot of bumps, the mount will probably be fine.
