Review on Boost Performance with the Continental 49003 Accu-Drive Pulley by Chris Barreto

Not exactly fitting. When close enough just doesn't work!

Obviously this is a 'universal' part, designed for various vehicles and manufactured to 'close enough tolerances' to be usable. DO NOT MATCH EXACTLY! After replacing all of the idler pulleys on my engine, one of the new replacement belts was this Goodyear pulley, I noticed a slight belt squeak on cold starts. Since I replaced all the secondary panes at the same time, I assumed that the squeaking was due to the air conditioning clutch slipping slightly when it was cold. No, I just removed the accessory belt and checked the alignment of the accessory pulleys. This pulley slightly enters the working plane of the other pulleys and cuts off one side of the belt. This is not a one-time manufacturing defect. I have a brand new, never installed and still in the box duplicate of this pulley on the shelf. After comparing and measuring the displacement on the two pulleys, they are exactly the same. This tells me that this is a "universal" pulley sold as a replacement part for many different cars, not one that should fit. I'm out of Goodyear parts. Addendum to my original review: I ordered an AC Delco Professional pulley from Revain to replace the Goodyear Gatorback pulley discussed above. On arrival I measured the displacement on both pulleys. Delco and Goodyear were produced differently with different offsets. After installing the Delco pulley, the slave belt ran accurately and in line with the other pulleys on the engine.
