Good all-purpose NPN signal transistor, but you should test the hFE (gain)
I needed matched pairs for a circuit and tested for hFE (gain) before using. Gain ranged from 207 to 260, with most hFE being in the 230's. Out of 20, I found 3 pair which matched and 2 others which would have been close enough.Inherent noise was low and the 2N2222A's were stable.
