Imperfect execution of a classic design
It should be simple but the execution is lacking. In particular, the hole in the metal cover of the sugar dispenser is very small, and part of it is covered by a rectangular hinge on the metal cover over the hole. Due to the small diameter of the orifice and the fact that the metal loop covers part of the orifice, the user often has to manually lift the metal cap to dispense sugar, and even then the flow is very, very slow. I believe there are alternatives made in Taiwan that don't have this disadvantage.
