I just bought my 24-70 and 70-200 to complement my d800e and I knew I might need a fast wide-angle prime in my kit. Some of you may think I'm crazy to spend so much money on a prime when my zoom covers that focal length. Okay, I'm crazy and I love shooting in natural low light. I'd just taken part in a major motorcycle rally and wasn't sure about my lighting conditions, but knew I'd be indoors and out all week, shooting quickly without controlling my subjects. All I can say is that the resulting images are very sharp and the bokeh is creamy soft, as pleasing as I could have hoped. It's always frustrating to take pictures with a lot of background noise, but with a wide-angle lens you can really draw attention to the point of focus. I've been walking around all week. I am very pleased with the sharpness and flexibility of this lens. It's a leap in quality over any non-gold stripe lens, and you can see it in both the 4x6 print and the 16x20 magnification. For me, image sharpness is everything and I prefer to do as little post-processing as possible. I didn't have to do much post-processing as the images are as sharp as possible from edge to edge. I didn't see any issues with color bleed through or anything else that post-processing could fix. The lens focuses very quickly, which is hardly noticeable when taking pictures. This is an excellent, very fast lens that gives you more light than your eye can see. If you can see it with your own eyes, this lens will capture it. Great investment and I'm almost used to scaling by wiggling my big two legs back and forth a bit. I love old school photography.
