Last year I standardized all my projects on TinyPico. Yes, you can get ESP32 boards for about $20 less, but they're not that small. The ESP32 WROOM chip used in most of these boards is itself about half the size of TinyPico. Also, TinyPico is very light - only one ounce. Power consumption is lower than the Fire Beetle and about 10 times lower than the Adafruit Huzzah32. If you're concerned about size, weight and/or performance, consider drones - that's your microcontroller. The product quality is excellent. I bought 15 of these and haven't had a marriage yet.
