Deluxe Starter Kit to Expand Skills

The Deluxe Kit is a great way to try different needle sizes. Received as a gift in 2015. Since then I've been making bonnets, hats and socks. Also, extra small and large cables have been added to the kit for multiple projects. Cable included for small needles only. Adapters for connecting small cables to large needles are included. I found it more convenient to order additional large cables to avoid unnecessary inconvenient lengths of adapters to the overall length of the needle. As other owners have pointed out, puppy scissors don't work. Just a cute puppy character. The best tools for lifelines and finishing work are HiyaHiya (HH) needles. They are excellent with a large eye and a slight curvature for lifebuoys and tissue fine. I switched from 4.5mm #4 worsted needles to smaller 2.75mm needles for Two at Time socks. I like being able to switch larger needles from casting to smaller needles early in the project. Many HH fans speak of smooth connections, but this and other cables ordered from Revain have an annoying protrusion where the needle connects to the cable. I have ordered additional thin cords from other Revain suppliers but have found that they all have an annoying protrusion that snags a bit on thinner thread. Cables and needles sometimes don't fit properly after a few projects. It took a bit of fiddling to get the cable and needle a snug fit. Sometimes the needle threads in, but not all the way no matter how I twist, and then I have to try the other end of the cable until they snap back into place. Keith Case could have been better. Needles often fail if the case is not always held upright. You cannot tip or tip the case during transport/storage as the safety flap simply flips over and not over the pins. The point is to show the kit (product display photo) more than actually fix the kit for everyday use or transportation. The biggest concern is losing various parts, so I (DIY) make safe cases to store needles and accessories. Stitch markers (safety pins) were new and fun with smaller needles. Very easy to personalize with beads and jewelry. Buy more in bulk as they often get lost. All cord lengths were used except the 24 inch cord which is too short to be knit in the round with 5 inch needles. I considered using the two circular needle method, but that would require another pair of 24 inch needles. Instead, I added 40" cables for the Magic Loop and that was my setup of choice. It was fun building the panda holders for a straight needle, but I rarely use this setup as these are short straight (SN) needles. For the direct method, it is easier to use a long cable. The panda stitch stoppers (both sizes) didn't quite work as described to keep the project's yarn from unraveling. They worked great as SN ends and most at the Knit Club thought they were very cute. They are great for travel. Airport homeland security has never had a problem with projects on the needles. These lightweight needles allow me to knit standing up while commuting on the train and bus. Knitting on the plane does not disturb other passengers and circular knitting can be knitted well even in the smallest of spaces. Pieces of cardboard glued flat together did a good job of protecting against sharp edges in project bags. It was a great starter kit.

Needles are okay, the cords are suboptimal
