UPDATE 3/2013: After using this filter system for over a year I am back to report that it has failed. You can see what we really wanted to believe about this filtration system in my original review below. But I had to replace the faucet fixture twice due to a leak, and about 1 out of 3 filters aren't filtering well enough to remove the bad taste. Instapure's customer service is very nice and will send out a replacement, but it's inconvenient if there's no filtered water waiting for a replacement. The problem we had is that the faucet leaks heavily, so hot water flows through the filter when the filter is off, and the water slowly starts to taste unfiltered. It also leaks, so unfiltered water leaks through in the filter position. Too bad we really liked the water when this filter was working properly. Maybe another model works better? I don't know, we won't waste any more time on this. We chose a 6-stage Ispring reverse osmosis filter (we chose 6-stage because reviewers pointed out that hot water leaks out when a 7-stage UV filter system is used). At 200+ that's more money, but over the long term replacement filters cost less per year than a faucet mount and the system is more reliable (based on recent feedback). PREVIOUS REVIEW: Overall, we like this filter. The filters built into the mixer are certainly the best out there. But we had a big problem. Please read below: We did our research first and this brand has the best filtering. Go to the site and read the long list of pollutants it filters out, very impressive. Filtered water is odorless and tasteless. WATER IS DELICIOUS. However, here are some advantages: The filter mode is automatically deactivated when you turn off the water. We love this because you don't waste time filtering by turning the water on later only to find out you left it in filter mode. The spout has 3 positions. One for filters, one for normal flow and a pulse/pressure sprayer. It's really awesome. The low profile design keeps the filter housing out of the way in small sinks. It also became a bestseller for us. We have a few cons: the filter is easy to install, but it comes without an adapter. So if it doesn't fit your faucet, you'll have to run to the hardware store. That scared us a bit at first. MANUFACTURER AND SELLER SHOULD NOTIFY THE BUYER IN ADVANCE. Either that or start by including some of the more common adapters. I would still buy a filter and be ready to get an adapter if it suits me. Instead, in the middle of the installation, I was surprised by this fact and had to drop everything to make a special journey. Also, the filter will drip a little around the unused outlets and filter housing, but it's not much and it doesn't matter much. us. Brita and Poor have their own problems. They both leak and the water quality is nowhere near as good as the Instapure. With the exception of the adapter issue, the Instapure outperforms the Brita and Pur in every category, especially when it comes to water quality. And that's why we use filters in the first place, right?
