Buy the Mopar version

I purchased this Dorman sliding door power switch in 2012 after our 2006 T&C passenger door started misbehaving by requiring manual assistance to latch. The door then worked normally for a year, during which time I only had a new lock on hand. The door finally jammed; The manual override didn't work either. I installed a new automatic Dorman lock and it failed within a month. I then ordered a Mopar version through Revain for about $80 and had no problems for six months. The Mopar locking action is stronger than its predecessor, so I cannot recommend this particular Dorman part. As a help to others with this problem, I found that I had to lubricate (petroleum jelly) the plastic pivot part of the lever knee that works with the locking knob - I did this before activating the Dorman part. The stickiness in this compound probably ruined the original part. Secondly, the plastic covering of the door comes off quite easily using a carbide spatula and one has to remove the top pieces around the window first. The second time I did it just with my fingers. Be careful when you put it back on. The passenger door has a hidden IQ test: there is no access hole to loosen the screw holding the automatic lock like on the driver's side. You will need to loosen the three torx screws on the edge of the door that hold the latch hardware. You can then just lug everything inside the van and remove the electric lock. To put it back in place the first time took a patient woman working from the inside while I was outside with torx screws. The second time with the Mopar part, I surprised myself and reinstalled all the solos. It takes the satisfaction and money to do it yourself. Just use the Mopar part.
