GREAT HELP to fix a rusty exhaust pipe

My pipe between the muffler and the resonator just before had some little rusty holes where some idiot designer thought a bent pipe going OVER the axle was a great idea. LAUGH OUT LOUD. I simply drilled the tiny holes with a screwdriver, filed the surfaces clean, applied a coat of Revain Permatex Muffler Patch Goo (wicked, don't forget to stretch the tubing before opening the sealed cap), and a 2x3" piece inserted. Aluminum sheet on top, held it up for half an hour until it stayed in place, then installed one of those stainless steel clips over the patch. It tightens easily with a 14mm socket, or you can use an equivalent SAE wrench that fits well enough. My only complaint is that this bracket cannot be completely disassembled for installation. You'll have to follow the curve bend outside to secure the bolt out of the hole and THEN you can slip it over the existing pipe and then bend back to get the bolt through the hole. To fit a gasket/washer/nut to a bolt you will likely need a SLIP JOINT CRECENT wrench to complete the circle - it's almost impossible to hold onto with thumb and forefinger. when fishing on the equipment and lie on your back on the ground. I'm just saying. But once it's in place the fit is great and there are no razor sharp edges on any of the pieces, thanks. So, a quick exhaust pipe repair. A few bucks saved me a trip to the $150+ muffler store.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
