Well it's not a knife that will replace all other knives (as I was secretly hoping) but it is a great wood carving knife. I'll always be an amateur and I don't think I'll ever spend money to be able to afford a full set of chisels, chisels, etc. However, within my limited skills, I can do almost anything I want with this knife. My first thought was that it was too short but after using it anyway, it's a bit too long (it's hard to make cuts in the indentations in the surface without accidentally cutting the edges). Of course I could cure this by buying a set of more specialized knives but until I have a lot more money and time to use such tools this will be more than enough. I have a strap to keep it sharp and it cuts through the walnut just as easily as my kitchen knives cut parmesan. Oh, and I have some cut resistant gloves. They cost a lot less than emergency room stitches, so they're well spent! (But seriously, this knife is very sharp, be careful.)
