This is my second time owning a DVR -- First success

I am happy with my purchase of this device. At first it didn't seem that difficult to set up. I actually had to read the manual and had a few trial and error moments where I didn't read the instructions carefully enough, but the DVR was up and running within 10 minutes and I used the recording function for 10 minutes afterwards. . The last DVR I received (which was promptly returned) took over an hour to set up and get up and running and it still didn't do what I needed it to do, so maybe it's just easier in comparison to. The video quality is good when playing a DVD, but the picture quality degrades when watching TV through the tuner (the coaxial cable also runs through my VCR and this may be the cause). The sound seems to match the quality of my TV, but I'm not an audiophile and sound quality has never been an issue for me. Setting the DVD recording timer was easy, but it still took a few tries because the buttons on the remote were too close together and I had a habit of pressing the wrong button and having to start over. The only disappointment is that if you have a recorder installed, you have to use the 'set timer' feature to turn off the device so the player knows to record. In this setting, you cannot use any other functions of the DVD player, including opening the tray. This part of the device is locked and only gives you access to the VCR. When you set the timer you're warned that you can't use any of the other features on screen, but here I couldn't read the information available so I had an instant panic attack when it stopped working. You can always turn off the timer setting if you want to access the DVD player again, but remember to turn it back on when you're done - simply turning off the device while a DVD-RW is in the tray will work Not. Basically I am satisfied with the device. The DVD takes a lot longer to load than my previous unit, but it's a minor thing I have to live with to have the tuner and recording capabilities I've been looking for. I'm sure there are more features I haven't worked with yet, but I'll explore those as needed.
