I bought a 2 pack black to try a non-HP print cartridge in my HP 8600 printer. The cost was much less than A cartridge HP. That worked fine for a while. I installed it 5 months ago and it has been printing for a while. Black text was acceptable. I don't use my 8600 for photography, so I can't comment on that. After a VERY short period of use (less than 30 pages), the printer has not been used for a few months. Then when I tried to print the text there was almost no text on the page. I ran the cleaning and head alignment utilities and got an error message stating that the head alignment utility could not be completed. I tried the recommended "fix" and ran the head alignment utility again and got the same error message. I installed the second cartridge and so far the text is printing fine.
