Review on πŸš€ Motorola MB8611 DOCSIS 3.1 Multi-Gig Cable Modem: Ideal for Xfinity Gigabit, Cox Gigablast, Spectrum & More! by Brian Cox

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Gives me the speed I pay for and can go further, plus easy setup.

I have xfinity performance pro which is rated for 150 mb/s incoming and 5 mb/s incoming. I used an Arris SB6141 modem with 8 downlinks and 4 uplinks, great modem, no problem but max speed is 120mbps downlink and 5mbps uplink. I figured what the heck could get the speed I'm paying for, so I bought a Motorola SB7621 with 24 channels down and 8 channels up. Internet speed is now 180Mbps and 6Mbps with 19ms ping. I'm glad I'm getting the speed I'm paying for now. Yes, the download speed hasn't changed much, but that's because xfinity doesn't support 8 channels up in my region. This means that while this modem supports 8 uplinks, it only shows 4 active uplinks when you log on. This is not a modem error, xfinity does. Download channels are ok, all 24 channels are displayed and active. Yes, I could buy a 16 channel modem down and a 4 channel modem up and get the same current speeds, but at the time of purchase this modem was less than or equal to all 16 x 4 modems Buy this Motorola , I can increase your internet speed in the future and still stay safe. Another good thing is that this modem has a Broadcom chipset and not an Intel Puma. The modem comes with good instructions and well packaged. Setup was easy. I didn't have to call xfinity. After just connecting the modem to my PC, all I did was go to motorola.com, which brought up the xfinity activation page. Then simply log in with your xfinity credentials and follow the instructions. Very easy and welcome as I didn't want to sit on the phone and speak to xfinity support. I never do reviews but thought this little box deserved it and hopefully this helps someone.
