Review on Yamaha YRS-700 TV Stand: 7.1-Channel Home Theater System, 250W Digital Amplifier, and Invisible Subwoofer (Black) by Kenny Hrdlicka

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very impressive!

Robust design. The design is appealing and the cable routing is simple but well thought out. You have to assemble different components and the instructions are not very helpful. Self assembled in 30 minutes. The instructions recommend 2 people for some stages. Here's the important part. How it works! I bought this unit to replace a Sony 5.1 Bluray/Surround system as I have a relatively small living room and 5 speakers and a subwoofer dominate the room. . Also due to the wooden floors, the subwoofer was overwhelming and lacked individual volume controls. The satellite TV sound quality is very sharp and clear. Netflix video streaming is actually much better than it used to be, and the sound of a normal DVD is no different. However, the Bluray material sounds much cleaner. Overall I'm very impressed with the system, particularly the amount of control over audio output, including the subwoofer. Is this a true surround sound system? No, but it's actually very good for a system that's fully integrated with the media stand. That's why it gets a well-deserved 5 stars. If you want true 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound, don't buy it. If you're short on space this is the unit for you, especially since the subwoofer is also housed in the stand. That's why it gets a well-deserved 5 stars.
