I've always used dollar store hot glue guns and they're good for small, quick and easy things, but they take a long time to heat up and don't last. The heat is long when used, resulting in about 5-10 seconds use and one minute waiting time to warm up. The heat seems to hold up much better and can be used continuously for a whole stick. The low and high temperature function is also very practical. I often use cheap clear glue sticks to temporarily hold things together and black hot glue sticks for a stronger bond, and low temps are perfect for the clear pens and high temps for the black pens. Overall, the price is worth it if you use a hot glue gun a lot.
