The difference is real. Some care is required for proper installation

The light is good and lights up the hallway much better than my old fixture that was burning out the small global bulbs every month. There are a few things to consider during installation. It took about 10 minutes from start to finish and I suggest these steps to help you with that. Have a separate light source so you can see what you're doing.2. Ensure there is at least 4 inches of black and white source wiring to allow field installation3. Do not use the 3 felt feet as they create a space between the light and the ceiling and will not catch on the bracket. The new light as well as the mounting plate I then used the 2 screws provided to attach the plate to the existing mounting bracket in the existing light fixture. Make sure the new bracket sits flush with the ceiling and does not fit through the hole or the flanges will not protrude enough to reflect the light. I attached a new bracket and inserted the wires into the holes (black=L, white=N). I tugged on them to make sure they wouldn't fall out.** Now hanging from the ceiling, I checked the light. Then I put the protective cover back on. I had to use a short screwdriver as you have very little room to work with, but it only took me about 10 turns to get it in. ** Check the light again after spinning! Sometimes a wire can come out if you don't push it hard enough. I then lifted the lantern over one of the mounting clips (I suggest the one "closest" to the ceiling hole). If the light cannot "catch" the first clamp, loosen the screw a few turns to make the bracket less flush with the ceiling. let go,” lifted the other end of the lamp and pressed it firmly against the ceiling, making sure it was flat. Then I released the latch and it grabbed the light. took several times. Then the light held up well and I was done. People complain that the battery cover is difficult to put back on. If the wire from the ceiling is too short, just plug in a longer key/wire and you'll be fine. People also complain that the light can't capture the mount. You can't use felt feet and you may have to press the mount too hard against the ceiling. A little more effort, but the price was worth it.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No automatic lighting
