I wanted to like it that way. I've watched a lot of YouTube videos and practiced with countless knives. I had to "dust" the wheel, which didn't seem to come off all the way and smoothed out again. You can just order some stones or go back to sharp and put the grinding wheels back on the new grinder I bought for these grinding wheels. I finally figured out what I did wrong with these wheels. Now I sharpen my sharp-edged knives faster than I can find sharpeners. Of course there are a few more that I have problems with, but there are fewer of them and the wheel is still shedding dust. But the slotted wheel seems to complete the blade of an already sharp knife, so sometimes I don't even use a dusty wheel. However, I took off a star because dust fell on the wheel.
