Time will tell for networking products

Update: April 20, 2021 I have been using this PAU09 device with Fedora 33 Xfce because it has always worked. But after some time now this PAU09 somehow works with any operating system. I'm not sure what the problem is or was, but it has been fixed. I tried this with Fedora 33 Xfce, Fedora 34 Gnome 40 and Windows 10 Education. I also tried this with 3 different modems/routers and it worked. So what has been fixed? I do not know. It was most likely a software incompatibility issue and the reason Fedora 33 Xfce worked with it is because it is an older and more reliable desktop environment. What does that mean? This means that this PAU09 uses older software/technology. Update: 08/17/2020 So it just doesn't stay connected after months of use. Finally I sat down and tried to figure out what was wrong with him. I contacted Panda Wireless support and they respond to my emails very quickly and it seems like they know what they are doing but they really had no idea what was going on with their own product. However, I was able to figure out what was wrong with PAU09. I have an old modem/router that only broadcasts 2.5GHz, but the PAU09 is dual band. This 5GHz part of PAU09 somehow causes it to disconnect from the router. It is still connected to the computer and can see all available networks, but cannot reconnect to the router after disconnecting. So the solution is if you can access the Residential Gateway (mine was 192.168.0.1) then you can login there. Once entered, go to the "Wireless" section and then to the "Radio" section. If you see anything that says Regulatory Mode, you need to enable 802.11h. If your router doesn't have this option, I don't know what to do, but this is how I was able to solve the connection loss issue. Update to my review from May 14, 2020. Today is June 20, 2020. 2020. After using PAU09 for a while, I can say that there is a problem. Loses connection to the internet after some time. The only way to reconnect is to disconnect and reconnect or restart the computer. When I figure out the cause of this error I'll update this post, but one thing is for sure, the cheaper PAU06 doesn't have this problem. That's minus two stars. But it gets a plus two stars for Panda Wireless' excellent customer service. I purchased PAU09 and received it on May 2nd, 2020. Today is May 14, 2020 so this is a 13 day review. First, the advertised image is not the "exact" same product; and by that I mean the main body is different, there is no WPS button and the USB holder/extension is shaped differently. See photos. Second my daughter will be using this for K4 next fall and my 4 year old son has already tested it online with his K4 HD tutorial videos. He has no problems with the computer, internet access and video streaming. In general, PAU09 works just as well as PAU06. When I connected it to three different computers, it worked straight away. However, there is a notable bottleneck. Windows 10 somehow definitely slows down boot speed while Fedora 32 workstation has no problem. See below for more information. The main computer it will be used with will be a DELL OPTIPLEX 9020 CORE i7vPro with 32GB RAM and an 80GB hard drive (it was free and I have two, one with PAU06 and the other with PAU09). It is running Fedora 32 (Workstation Edition). I haven't had any overheating issues, but that's because I only use it on a USB 2.0 port. I have no intention of trying it via a USB 3.0 port to see if it gets as hot as the PAU06. Warning, this image is ASUS Zen AiO Pro 23.8". CORE i7 with 12GB RAM and 128GB SSD and 1TB HDD. (Model number Z240IEGT-16). I was trying to see if I could find the best download speed for my computer woman because it's about 20 meters away from the Zoom 5352 router and between two separate walls, so Ookla's speed test showed that the built-in Wi-Fi has a download speed of 20 Mbit/s. However, for PAU09 it only showed 7Mbps with a USB cradle/extension cable Although the PAU09 was directly connected to the computer, it had a download speed of 40Mbps, which was twice that of the built-in Wi- fi card fedora 32 workstation secondly the download speed is constant so you don't have to worry about your own video stream being corrupted this is very important if you are a teacher with video students after all this one is different product of on PAU06 in that it has large antennas that allow you to work further away from the router. I still have to test that.
