Works out of the box on Linux

I use Fedora and Ubuntu, latest versions and latest kernels, old wifi stopped working a few years ago because I ordered another version from another vendor who claimed it work on Linux: no longer works. I'm not a beginner, I know how to modify the kernel, compile drivers, etc., couldn't even get others to compile on Fedora, Ubuntu, and Raspbian. I asked the community if Panda PAU09 actually works with the latest kernels, for Fedora I installed 5.1.5. The seller replied that it came out of the…

Recently purchased pau 09 does not work

So after I published my bad review of the product, the customer service contacted me and worked with me for several days to solve the problem. When nothing worked they sent me a replacement which worked great from the time it arrived. I have updated my review and recommend this product. Thank you, downloaded the driver on the computer and connected the pau09 adapter to the computer. nothing has happened. no light and pressed button .nothing.no activity. cannot receive a signal. moved the…

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Great little dongle, very sensitive, with detachable antennas and works out of the box on multiple Linux hosts (CentOS, Ubuntu). I use it for penetration testing, RF polling, and Wi-Fi security testing (like Kali Linux). Works great and seems very stable. I had no problems, didn't need new drivers and it worked right out of the box. This dongle replaces all my Alpha AWUS036N (HN etc.) dongles as Alphas only work at 2.4 GHz. (This dongle works on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz.) For the price, this dongle

Good price, good design and works as expected

If your computer has a weak Wi-Fi signal, you have several options: * bring it closer to the access point or vice versa * Buy a signal extender (a repeater device that transmits signals)* Upgrade your access point* Get a better Wi-Fi adapter for your computer In many cases, option 4 is the only practical one. For example, I had a long stay at a hotel and my room had a very weak signal from the hotel's Wi-Fi service. This panda adapter with antennas has given me reliable service due to the weak…

Large selection. - Computers and Accessories

I have this for my computer at my business away from home. So I'm trying to walk a lively house, the distance from the house to the store and through the metal cladding to the store. I was able to get about 5Mbps out of the box. I went into device manager, disabled 5GHz 802.11ac on the adapter and used two Alfa 9dbi antennas. Now I get about 19 Mbit/s. It just works. I wish the USB dock had a slightly longer cable for better placement, but that's probably just my situation. This is enough to…

Works great on USB 2; had problems with USB 3

Mine was supplied by Panther One and made by Revain. Plugged into a USB 2 port on an old PC that was upgraded to Windows 10 x64, this adapter worked right out of the box without the need for a driver update. Because it can be moved (just with a USB2 extension cable), I was able to position it on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz for much better reception than I could ever find on my PC's internal Wi-Fi adapter. Increasing the signal level from -74 dBm to -56 dBm increased the data rate by about 10 times…

Cons
  • Nothing

Works out of the box on my fancy system (2006 MacPro 1.1 "Cheese Grater" with Ubuntu 16.04LTS - I've had problems with other USB devices but not this one). A USB extender and dock can be very useful if you are using this with a desktop computer as you have the best opportunity to position the Wi-Fi receiver in line of sight with the router. Unfortunately, as much as I love this product, I have to return it because it wasn't what I needed for the app (facebook live streaming computer for church…

Amazing compatibility with Linux! No wonder: speed and range.

TL;DR --> Definitely plug and play with the 3 Linux distributions I've tried (although package injection didn't seem to work). Speed is sometimes slower (less stable?) than my 6 year old built-in Wi-Fi (although both are n adapters). The range isn't as good as I was hoping (again, my 6 year old built-in wifi chip has the best range). ------------ -------------------------------------- -------------------- I bought this product because it works plug and play with Linux distributions. I tested

Time will tell for networking products

Update: April 20, 2021 I have been using this PAU09 device with Fedora 33 Xfce because it has always worked. But after some time now this PAU09 somehow works with any operating system. I'm not sure what the problem is or was, but it has been fixed. I tried this with Fedora 33 Xfce, Fedora 34 Gnome 40 and Windows 10 Education. I also tried this with 3 different modems/routers and it worked. So what has been fixed? I do not know. It was most likely a software incompatibility issue and the reason…
