I have this for my computer at my business away from home. So I'm trying to walk a lively house, the distance from the house to the store and through the metal cladding to the store. I was able to get about 5Mbps out of the box. I went into device manager, disabled 5GHz 802.11ac on the adapter and used two Alfa 9dbi antennas. Now I get about 19 Mbit/s. It just works. I wish the USB dock had a slightly longer cable for better placement, but that's probably just my situation. This is enough to pull him out from behind the computer under normal conditions. Interestingly I had a ten year old Alfa adapter so when I plugged it in it just worked. No driver updates, CDs or anything required - that's pretty cool. I suspect it was the same chipset. All in all I would definitely buy another one.
