They are more reliable and easier to set up than the new electronic versions. I personally like the removable clips that set the on/off time. The only downside is that in a very quiet place you can hear the timer ticking. It's very, very quiet, but you can hear it. Because the timing mechanism is entirely mechanical, they wear out over time; it lasts about 3 years. I like the built in ground wire they have. I will continue to buy these because the price is good, they work with three plugs, and are easier and more reliable to install than electronic versions.
