I hasten to point out that the Sony part in this player is fine. Sony doesn't make a multi-region chip and has nothing to do with aftermarket modifications. WHOEVER did the after-sales work failed. 75% of the time, drives freeze, shake, and skip 10-30 minute snippets of programming. Some nights I just can't play it again, although sometimes I go back to it the next day and everything works. In an hour. It takes half an hour to an hour of start-stop, on-off, polishing the discs (they never scratch, but hey, you have to try everything, right?) and a few occasional prayers to get the video content to play. . Honestly I HATE this regional player and "Bombay Electronics", the company that supposedly made the modifications.
