One happy camper! in External Components

Let's start from the beginning. I ordered this player along with a mouse on Tuesday evening at 10pm. It was shipped by Phoenix and was at my doorstep here in Vegas within 36 hours with free Super Saver shipping. Never had such fast delivery which is why Revain gets an A+ there. Now I've had this computer for 11 years, a Sony VGC-RB30, and both the DVD and CD players are dead, but I didn't want to buy a new computer just because this computer is still better than most made today computer. Anyway, hooked up the player with both USB cables and it was ready to go, plug and play. -r are recorded at 52x and everything plays absolutely fine. Whatever I throw there, it plays. And the DVD has no lag, video and audio are in sync, so everything works fine. One issue is very small and maybe not even worth mentioning, but I don't like the way the discs are placed in the tray. They should snap into place on the B pillar. With older players, you just inserted the disc and closed it. When I need to insert this disc I use one hand for the disc and the other hand to hold the tray for fear of breaking the tray. But then again, I think the locking feature reduces most disc shake, so it's probably a good thing. The only other problem is the 2 USB cables. Short, each about 2 feet long. But for most, that won't be a problem. That was just enough for my setup. So there is no problem here. Maybe for the ones that didn't work for them, maybe it was a driver issue. I'm not very computer savvy but I always had the k-lite codec pack installed and NEVER had a driver problem. So for the 16.80 I paid for this player I'm so happy. Now I can watch all my thousands of DVDs and listen to all my thousands of CDs again. I think it's time for some brewers to celebrate.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Minor problems
